CIT imports catalogue data for all courses that were offered in the past two semesters. The import is done once every semester after the course calague (VVZ) of the upcoming semester is set. Course data in the CIT database from the year before is overwritten. This only applies for standard ETH courses. But since the course data is overwritten every year, customizations to courses that should remain in place, need to be made for course copies.
Important: Updates to the course data that have been made via eDoz can be imported at any time upon request. Just send us an email
To make a modification to an existing course, you have to create a copy of the course first. Find the course in the ETH course list. Navigate to the ETH course list by clicking on "Courses"
at the top menu bar.
Note: A course can also be copied directly from the curriculum view (see below)
Find the course, that you want to copy (using the filters or the search function) and click on the "Copy course" button on the right
.
The course copy menu opens:

First select from the drop down menu, which project the course copy should be assigned to.
Next, specify basic course data.

First, enter a course number (has to be unique!). By default, the course copy has the original course number, proceeded with "-copy". You may change the course number as long it remains unique. We recommend to use a prefix, such as your initials or an abbreviated project shorthand.
Next, click on
to edit the course description. You may edit the course title, the course abstract and the course objectives. Both in German and English.

Click on
to edit the course format information, e. g. how many contact hours per time unit in which format the course offers. To edit this information, set all the parameters and click on the plus symbol
.

In a last step, you may specify the course offering. You can select the offering departement and the degree programmes the course is offered in. Additionally, you can specify the course categories, both current as well as PAKETH.

Make sure to save the course data by clicking the "Save" button
.
Note: The competency data of a course can only be edited once the course copy has been saved!
If a course is already part of one of your curricula, you can create a course copy directly by clicking on the course. In the course info box that opens, click the button
.
The ensuing steps are as described above.
Once you have created a copy of a course, you may edit the competence information. You may edit course competence information either in the course list or directly for courses which are part of a curriculum.
To create new courses, navigate to the
menu in the top blue menu bar.
In the top right corner, you see the
button. Click it to open the course creation menu.

In the pop-up window, you can now enter all the necessary course information.
If you have multiple projects in CIT, you have to select one project from the drop-down menu the course is assigned to. This makes it easier to find when adding it to a curriculum.
Next, enter the basic data, such as course ID (has to be unique) as well as credit points or semester the course is offered in.
Now move through the different menu items (
,
,
) to enter other relevant course information.
When adding information about
, select a course format to add from the drop down menu (project work, excursion, etc.) and click on the
button to add the course format.
Do the same when entering information in the
tab.
Select degree programmes the course is offered in and click
. This information is important to visualize the service teaching information.
When adding a degree programme, you can then select the course category (O (compulsory), W (elective) etc.) for the time until HS27 and for after the start of PAKETH (using the PAKETH course categories (compulsory (P), compulsory with compensation (PK), compulsory elective (WP) and elective (W))).
Click
to save the course to the CIT data base.
NOTE: To be able to edit the competencies assigned to the new course, it has to be saved first. If saved, you can edit the course to modify the competencies
To find your course easier when adding it to a curriculum, you can use the toggle switch
in the course unit menu. This switch filters the courses to show only those courses that are specific to a project. Select the project from the drop-down menu, of you have multiple projects.
